Jade J. Rouzeau – Founder
Jade is originally from Atlanta, Georgia; born and raised. Jade earned her Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Miami Miller School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida and her Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Human Resource Management from The Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Jade is an attorney practicing general civil litigation at a firm in downtown Jacksonville (previously practiced family law for 5 years).
Prior to and following rescuing Rooster, Jade has worked diligently in her local community to promote animal welfare and educate the public about the importance of heartworm prevention, spay and neuter programs and the myths of breed specific legislation.
Jade is married to fellow Rooster to the Rescue board member, Greg Rouzeau. Jade and Greg live in Jacksonville, Florida where they are parents to two sweet, smart bully breed dogs named Blanche and Maccabee who were terrific siblings to Rooster as well as countless foster dogs that Jade and Greg have loved, trained and rehabilitated in order to prepare them for loving forever homes. Jade and Greg will be relocating to Virginia Beach, Virginia soon due to military orders and are looking forward to hit the ground running with the rescue community up there.
Jade and Greg started Rooster to the Rescue in October 2012 as a legacy for Rooster; their amazingly wonderful foster dog. Despite enduring a life of neglect, Rooster’s unbreakable spirit and preventable illness, heartworm disease, inspired Jade and Greg to educate the public about this disease as well as provide treatment for heartworm positive dogs, breaking down the barriers that might otherwise keep them from finding their forever homes.
Jade devotes much of her spare time to animal related causes including volunteering at adoption events and facilitating treatment for the many dogs who have already been treated for heartworm disease through Rooster to the Rescue. With any remaining time Jade enjoys cooking, reading or a trip to Nordstrom – good thing the closest one is 300 miles away!
Gregory Rouzeau – Founder
Petty Officer First Class, Greg Rouzeau, has had a successful career in the US Navy. Throughout his eight years of service Greg has received many accolades and decorations including his most recent award as the leading Petty Officer of the Electronics Maintenance Department at the Naval Computer & Telecommunications station in Jacksonville, Florida (NAS JAX). Originally from New York, Greg is currently stationed in Jacksonville with his wife, and fellow Rooster to the Rescue founder, Jade. Greg will soon be changing commands and moving his family up to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Greg’s commitment to serve others extends far beyond his military career and as a result he can often be found volunteering his time with local rescue organizations or around town at various adoption and fundraising events. Greg really loves to help with the introduction of a new four-legged family member to the existing pets. He believes that proper introductions are key to harmony when bringing a new pet home.
As a founder and Rooster to the Rescue board member, Greg is devoted to raising awareness regarding heartworm disease and the ease of prevention. Witnessing Rooster’s battle for life first-hand inspired Greg to turn Rooster’s life into a gift that could be shared with other animals in need. As a result, Rooster to the Rescue was born and treatment for heartworm positive dogs has enabled many to find forever homes.
In his spare time, Greg enjoys exercising and playing with Blanche and Maccabee, Greg and Jade’s two blue-nosed bully dogs. Blanche and Maccabee are frequent guests at Greg’s work as everyone at his command loves to spend time with them. On most days though, Blanche and Maccabee are accompanied by a constant stream of foster dogs that pass through the Rouzeau household for training, love and medical attention while on their journey to their forever home.
Amber Renard – Media and Public Relations Manager
Amber Renard holds a B.B.A. in marketing from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business and currently manages Public Relations for Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation, manufacturers of PENTAX, a popular brand of consumer DSLR cameras.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, interrogating friends, family and neighbors about their animal’s heart worm regimen and watching almost any reality TV show.
Amber lives in the beautiful state of Colorado where she cares for her Australian Shepherd/Catahoula mix, Hanna, a rescue from a local shelter.
Amber became involved with Rooster to the Rescue after seeing the amazing national response that Rooster’s story received. Thanks to Rooster, Amber learned about the lack of awareness and education about this highly preventable disease and now works with the Rooster to the Rescue team to speak out for those without a voice and bring light to the important issue of heart worm prevention.
